Project Description

As I was making these I thought about all the women from my community who were horribly abused and murdered. They were not just the women who survived childhood, but also those young girls who did not survive residential school. Some of our missing women have been found after many decades. They had left the area due to horrible memories here, and it was through their children, some of whom were adopted that we found them. Of course, it was after their deaths. We keep our homes and hearts open to these relations, as they look for healing and their journeys home….These vamps are made from home tanned moose hide and the bone is moose antler. The moose is a very important relation in our part of this world, and these are only two of the gifts from this relation.
