There will be a closing pipe ceremony and feast for Walking With Our Sisters Brandon this Thursday at noon in the Ceremony Room at Brandon University in the Health Studies Building. Everyone is welcome!
The space is “empty” now. With peaceful, but heavy hearts we send our sisters back home with the closing pipe ceremony tomorrow.
Today is the first day of destall for the Walking With Our Sisters in Brandon, Manitoba.
It is in part, letting go… After investing so much time, care and love into this ceremony one becomes extremely attached.
It’s also the passing on of this ceremony ..so even tho they may be sad to see this go. .there is still the attention, love and care that goes into passing this ceremony onto the next location..in a good way.
The wonder and excitement as to what is next?!
A mix of emotion over the next few days for many..My thoughts and prayers are with them..
Here are some images of the great women involved with Walking With Our Sisters Brandon as well as the final install of the memorial to our Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. We are ready to go!
Installation – Baby Vamps
Working on the installation of the baby vamps – a very emotional part of the process.
Installation Day 1 – Laying down the cedar.
Even the President of Brandon University got involved!
The Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba is so honoured to host the weekly bead-ins for Walking With Our Sisters Brandon. Here are some photos from our Facebook Page.
Wonderful ladies working hard at the WWOS skirt-making workshop.
WWOS set up a booth at the Brandon bobcats basketball games and we made close to $300.00.
Thanks to our volunteers and the HLC!
From our Facebook Page posted by Peter Morin:
“The students worked on beaded cuffs. These cuffs were made to raise funds to support bringing the Walking With Our Sisters Exhibition to Brandon MB. We decided on the word Remember because we wanted to remember the grandmothers, mothers, aunties, sisters, cousins, nieces, daughters. These cuffs are going to be sold at the upcoming Gala Dinner on Saturday… check it out if you can. I am super proud of my student for making these words. for contributing these words to Walking With Our Sisters.
Shoutout to Tim, Jesse and all our other volunteers for all their prep work for the bannock sale for WWOS!
One of fundraising events that we have planned is Bannock sales, the hope is to do this every upcoming Friday going forward. Right now we are doing a call out for volunteers. If you can make bannock, donate some supplies or be a delivery driver we would appreciate it so much! Email Julea at stonemanj@brandonu.ca if this is something you would like to be a part of.
